King of Dirt Chicksands Rd 1 Mini Interview!!

Oh my god - it's the summer at last! Dry trails, evening rides and OF COURSE dirt jumps!

The trails season is officially kicking off this weekend with round 1 of the King of Dirt series, at Chicksands. Things were looking a bit ropey for this year's KoD but they've pulled it off and it's set to be a good 'un!

Here's the line up for the whole series:

Chicksands - 6th April

Wisley trails - May (date tbc)

NASS 08 - 13th to 15th June

The Track, Cornwall - August 9th

Here's what KoD main man Ben Mark had to say about it:

WO: Who are you and what's your role in this years KOD series?
Ben: I am Ben Mark and I am 21 yrs old and I am running the King Of Dirt for the 08 season with plans to run it for the next few years to come ... I work for Upgrade bikes (a.k.a DMR) in the warehouse.

What can folks expect for the day?

This weekends competition is at Infamous Chicksands trails in the heart of Bedfordshire, with the Open category running on the Middle Line and the Pro Category running on the Big Set.

There will be a 30 min Jam Format for each of the Open and the Pro events where there will be separate competitions included for the open category including a progression element , worst maintained bike, most facial hair / worse dressed rider and many others.

Weather permitting and fingers crossed it will be a fun packed day with live commentary and lots of free bits to be won. The Pro comp is always a good show with lots of riders learning new tricks and more style over the winter training period.

Who have you got confirmed so far?
There is a lot of big riders confirmed from DMR, Identiti, Flow, Static, Superfly and Spank so look out for some massive tricks and some impressive style and flow.

This year there will be a load more sponsors seeing the event progress including a return from the clothing brand Dirtyhabit, new interest from Flow bikes, Spank, Superfly and also the big brands including Identiti and DMR. But the best new feature is the help and support from NIKE 6.0, they are holding there own competition called "killing it " which is for the rider who simply pulls out all the stops! They will win a hand full of Nike 6.0 goodies.

Why is the '08 KOD gonna be AMAZING?!

With a whole load more prizes and a lot more up and coming riders the competition should have a massive push this year. The Pro riders will really have to step up there game to make sure they keep there places on their teams!!!
